WANA (May 15) – In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran described the recent remarks by Donald Trump as yet another sign of the hypocritical and offensive approach of U.S. policymakers toward the nations of the region, and their insistence on preventing accountability for the crimes committed by the Israeli regime against the peoples of the region.

The full text of the statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran regarding U.S. President Trump’s remarks is as follows:

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran condemns the U.S. President Trump’s remarks made on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, regarding Iran, as false, divisive, and misleading claims.

While the Zionist regime, acting on behalf of the United States, is engaged in one of the most horrific colonial genocides in the occupied territories of Palestine—and has also militarily occupied lands belonging to two other Arab and Islamic countries—it repeatedly violates the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen, committing terrorist acts and war crimes against these countries. Yet, the U.S. President, with complete audacity, portrays Iran as responsible for the destruction in these nations.

Such a distortion of the truth—based on a blatant reversal of existing regional realities—is aimed at diverting attention from the genocide in Gaza and other crimes committed by the Zionist regime in Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen. It is yet another sign of the hypocritical and offensive approach of American policymakers toward the nations of the region and their insistence on preventing the Israeli regime from being held accountable for the crimes it has committed against them.

The deceitful and insulting remarks of the U.S. President will in no way create a rift in the national unity of Iranians inside and outside the country. Such remarks do not change the fact that over the past seven decades, U.S. administrations have spared no effort to block Iran’s progress and development. In addition to their full support for the former regime and also for the criminal regime of Saddam during the imposed war, they have, through the imposition of the most severe sanctions and economic-financial pressures, grossly violated the human rights of every single Iranian.

The people of the region and the world will never forget that, at the same time the U.S. President is present in the region and making divisive and deceptive statements, Palestinian women and children in Gaza and the West Bank are being mutilated by American-supplied weapons, and the genocidal plan against the Palestinian nation continues with unprecedented political, financial, and military support from the United States.

Undoubtedly, the U.S. President’s divisive remarks are made with the intention of creating discord between Iran and its Arab neighbors and of covering up America’s direct role in the crimes of the Zionist regime. However, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the countries of the region—aware of the malicious intent and criminal history of the United States and the Zionist regime—will continue on the path of strengthening and consolidating friendly relations among the nations of the region, without being influenced by the divisive approaches of third parties.”
